InterContinental Hotel Geneva - Unpretentious Body With Natural Guts

InterContinental Hotel Geneva at 7-9 Chemin du Petit Saconnex

At first glance you would not expect that plain, 15-storied high rise to host one of Geneva's most luxurious hotels. But you should not judge a book by its cover: In 2005, the InterContinental Hotel Geneva was completely refurbished - a 22-million-euro project, including services from New York's famous designer Tony Chi.

The outcome isn't half bad. A new entrance was built in; firesides were added to the entrance hall; new bars, restaurants, lounge bars, and convention rooms were established. Altogether, the InterContinental has 327 rooms to offer, including 102 suites. The latter have sizes up to 340 square metres and all of them possess a view to the Lake.

Indeed, all rooms are equipped and furnished comfortably. Cosy upholstery, decent illumination, and earthy colours like brown, green, and beige give the whole place a natural look. Wood was fitted generously in public areas, and you find pieces of art that pick trees out as a central theme. Of course, television, movies, high-speed internet access, air condition and other amenities are available, too.

InterContinental Hotel Geneva five stars hotel is up-to-date

Technically and where auxiliaries are concerned, the five-star hotel is up-to-date. You can choose from 14 meeting/convention rooms, including one that has ballroom-size. A business center is there that renders all services you may need. An outdoor pool, fitness facilities, and a beauty center provide for relaxation, whereas a near-by tennis court and golf course please those who like to compete.

Public transportation facilities, however, can be reached with no handicap at all: Both the airport and train station are approximately three kilometres away, and the InterContinental Geneva offers 115 paid parking spaces to its guests. The building itself has wheelchair access, and pets are welcome - like in most Swiss hotels.

All these conveniences are embedded in a quiet, suburban area with trees around and beautiful views. What else can you await from a holiday resort? Especially when places of interest, such as museums, a theater, a botanical garden, and - of course - the famous Lake Geneva, are within walking distance, too?
