Football: On the occasion of the European Championship 2008 the home stadium of the FC Basel, the St. Jakob-Park , built in 2001, is extended from approx. 30,000 to 42,000 seats to the largest Swiss stadium. During the Championship, the opening match, two further group matches, two quarter final matches and a semi-final match will be held in the St. Jakob Park.
